Karen (a different Karen)Hi Carrie!
Just to be the odd (wo)man out, I’m a little different. I have LOCAH, and although I had tons of symptoms throughout childhood I was not diagnosed until I was 22. Through childhood I ate like a pig. My mother used to say that whatever she cooked for dinner, half was for me and half was for the rest the family. It was common for me to order two entrees if we ate out, and have desert too. I was always so hungry! I never gained weight from all that eating, either -- I was very big-boned but quite skinny, count my ribs kind of thing. Once I was correctly medicated, I didn’t eat anywhere near that much, but started gaining weight anyway because my metabolism slowed way down. Mind you, before meds my resting heart rate was about 130 beats a minute, and I was an athlete!
One of the first symptoms I notice when I need a med change is that I again get that voracious appetite. I’ve learned to take that as a sign to go have bloodwork.
I know from reading people’s messages on the board that most people have the increase of appetite from the meds, but it’s worked just the opposite for me.
I’m glad you have an appointment for bloodwork.
