Sara,

Glad you found this board and I hope that we can all be helpful to you. I have twin girls, 22 months, both with SWCAH. I will probably get bad reviews for this, but we did not and still don’t wake our kids up for meds. Our endo did not recommend it unless they slept like 4 hours and really missed the time, but otherwise, we don’t have a strict schedule. We give meds in the AM when they get up (6:30-8), in the afternoon after their nap (3-4) and again before bedtime (8-10).  Their labs have always been great so the endo says that our routine is fine.

I would ask your endo what he/she thinks. Some are strict, some aren’t and all kdis are different as well.

About the pill--crush it with a pill crusher, add a little water and suck it into a syringe. Then, we put a little more water in the dish just to make sure you don’t leave any traces as when you are dealing with a 1/4 pill is likely. Then suck that up and give it as well. When he gets a little older and is eating baby food, you can just add it to it and eventually, we just started giving our girls the pills whole and they chew them up.
