Susanhi, recently someone here told me how to convert units from lab work to understand the values....I am trying to understand his 17OHP, Androstenedione, and DHEA which were all done in ng/dl and another in ng/ml but the chart that someone here said is great for looking up what the values should be for a kid under 10 yrs old are very different...they say 17ohp should be 0.1-3.0 but my son’s was 72 ng/dl, so I imagine the units/values are different. thanks for info. We finally got a ACTH stim test done today! no results yet, but it will be nice to know once and for all if my son is a carrier or has CAH or not. thanks for info.
in regard to the above info...I finally got copies of old lab work from when my son was 7 (he is now 9) let me know if any of it stands out to you, and the values he had were:
17OHP was 72 ng/dl,
DHEA was 2.1 ng/ml,
Androstenedione was 0.9 ng/ml
And another lab report later that year say:
Androstenedione was 70 ng/dl...which looks high for a 7 yr old! says it is in the range for a 10-16 yr old, stage 3 tanner.
DHEA was 340 ng/dl ...this it says is in the 8-10 yr old range.
FSH was prepuberty
LH was odd, showed it at less than 0.02! What could that mean? It says a 2 yr old should have it at least at that amoung or higher! Anyone know why it would be so low, yet the Andro one hight? and DHEA high? Seems odd. Recently his LH was 0.16 this year, still low.
Testosterone was 7.1 ng/dl which is a prepuberty level.
