MicheleHi Laura,
We have 3 children, first two with SWCAH. They are now ages 13, 11, and 9. In our experience, when the SWCAH children were babies, I would say that they seemed to catch everything! And they had more difficulty bouncing back than their youngest sibling who does not have CAH. Our oldest had 8 inpatient hospital stays due to illness before she was 2 years old! However ... they have built up wonderful immunities! They rarely miss a day of school due to illness, maybe one of two days a year at the most. Sure they get colds etc, but they handle it very well. They are well controlled and there is a care plan in place for the unexpected emergency at school. All in all, their lives are not very different than their youngest brother’s. If someone had ever told me it would be this "easy" when they got older, I never would have believed them. But, it is and we are very grateful. I wish your family the same good fortune. Trust your motherly instinct, and take a day at a time. Feel free to ask questions.
