MicheleHi again Sarah,
She was 11 1/2 when she got her period. I didn’t think it was too early as I was 12. She did not have any additional surgery. She had her one and only surgery when she was 3 1/2 months old. I did take her back to her urologist and he did not examine her. We just talked. Her periods are regular and the flow seems fine, so he wasn’t concerned about examining her. He did suggest that sometime around 16 or 17 years old that we take her to an adolescent gynecologist for a thorough examination, but there is no rush as her flow is fine. If she were missing periods or had "too little flow" she would have to go in sooner. Since that visit, she began using tampons successfully and I reported this to him. He said this was a very good sign that no further surgery would be needed. Tampons were not traumatic. Summer was approaching and she was determined that nothing was keeping her out of the water! She was determined to do it! So that’s our story to date. I wish you the best.
