hi there! my son’s preschool will not give the shot either. at first, i freaked out about it. once i calmed down, i started to think....well, it is not like a peanut allergy where you have a matter of 3 minutes before anaphylaxis could occur. i am always within (or someone who can give the shot) a 30 minute drive away. our ems can’t give the shot either, but they can give solumedrol and start an iv with normal saline. the most likely culprit at preschool would be a broken bone, a fever, or vomiting. with ANY child, a decent preschool would call the parents. i made a little booklet too and i feel like the preschool watches my son very closely for fever, pallor, lethargy, etc. i am ok with it now.  however, everyone is different. if you can’t relax while your kids are away, then i might look into another preschool.  best of luck with whatever you decide. keep us posted.
