re: re: Question for ALL adults or older kids with CAH ... overweight or NOT!!

I’ve been wondering, too, if my daughter is doomed to being overweight. I must say that she’s got genes against her, as I myself am at least 40 lbs overweight. But I’m thinking also: since such a large percentage of the general population in North America is overweight, just exactly how much DOES the medication affect weight in adulthood? I would like to hear from ALL adult and older teen CAH’ers ... overweight or not. I would also be interested to see if there is a correlation between weight and how well your CAH is/has been controlled. THere must be SOMEONE out there who has CAH, takes meds and is NOT overweight ... to give me (and my daughter some hope!). I’ve taken steroids several times in my life, including dex. while I was pregnant with my SW daughter, who is now 7. I can definately attest to the fact that it makes you gain weight much more easily, and you get that "puffy" look and acne, etc., as well. I can believe that it must be incredibly frustrating when doctors, family, etc. make you feel that the probelm is nothing more than a lack of will-power. A little glimmer of hope from anyone out there?? .............
