Natalie AOur now 11 yr old swcah daughter had some pretty bad pelvic pain and leakage for a number of years. We had no idea why and couldnt get a realistic diagnosis for what seemed like quite a long while. She had her vaginoplasty and clitoral recession at age 18 months. She was still in diapers a bit longer and then when she potty trained is when we began to notice the need for many underwear changes. They were fairly wet from leakage. Sometimes odor. The drs thought maybe she wasnt emptying her bladder all the way causing leaks.
That was not correct. She was in need of a uretheral reconstruction. The urethera was so high up inside that when she urinated some of it stayed in the vaginal canal and pooled there until physical movements later made it leak out. The pain came from when it was pooling the pressure and sometimes onset of infection from urine being where it doesnt belong would cause pretty severe discomfort. After her second surgery she never ever leaked again!
