re: Dex split into two doses

Chris,

Just wanted to let you know that when Ashley was on Cortef it was liquid and not the pills and she took it three times a day and was on more that 3cc’s of it per day.  Her levels were so out of control that switching to Dex was the best option for us.  Maybe your endo put your son on Dex because the Cortef was not working as well as it should be.  And if you had to split pills maybe the Cortef should have been liquid.  Ashley takes 0.5cc’s of Dex in the AM and 0.8cc’s of Dex in the PM  it is an extremely small dosage compared to the Cortef, she did gain some weight but as of now she is the same weight as I was at age 9 1/2 and about 1 inch shorter than I was.  I am only 5’1 at this time and she is already up to my chest area.  Since being onthe Dex she has continued to grow at least 1/2 of an inch to 1 inch per year.  And her levels have come back fine each time.

A call to the endo would be a good idea to find out if you can switch back to Cortef but in liquid form or if the Cortef was not working at all.  I don’t know if side effects of Dex are different in boys than in girls, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Good luck and keep us  posted.
