Hi. Though I do not have a child that has gone through early puberty, I think I might be able to help you. I started puberty before I was 5 (I am now 26) and also had all the test run without any cause found. I was put on Lupron treatments of one shot per day and my dose was increased many times to get the right dose for me. I was one of the first treated for precocious puberty and I know that after my test group they moved to one shot per month instead of once a day. I am curious, though, what signs of puberty your friend’s daughter is having. The reason is because I showed some signs of puberty the whole time I was treated, things just slowed down...for instance I was still growing taller, I was putting on the women’s body figure (better way of saying "getting a fat layer"), and my chest was growing. I also had body odor and I think my mother said that I had some hair where I shouldn’t have had it. However, my treatment was working because it was keeping me from going into full-blown puberty at which time I would have stopped growing and started my cycle. I would suggest that your friend talk to the doctor about her concerns, just to make sure that her symptoms are not normal for a girl that has precocious puberty. I would caution that the treatments for precocious puberty do not in anyway return you back to a normal little girl. I am thankful, though, for the treatments...otherwise I would have started my cycle at age 5 and would be no taller than 5 foot (I am 5’8"). Also I would be curious to know if your friend’s daughter was tested for Late Onset CAH. My reason is because I was recently (at 26) told that I have LOCAH and that was the "cause" of my precocious puberty. Anyway, I hope that this might help your friend.andra
