My daughter is 9 and has been taking Depot Lupron shots for almost 9 months. Andra, thanks so much for your post because I thought that the Lupron should completely STOP the pubertal progression, but is has only slowed it way down. Chelsea still is growing, is slowing growing breasts and gaining pubic hair and getting that "womanly" figure, but it is at a much slower pace than before beginning the shots.  She also has pretty bad body odor and some acne and greasy hair.

Julia, the main thing (in my understanding) is buying the children some height. If a girl is allowed to begin menstruating at such a young age, growth stops and she is at full adult height. Chelsea is 4’9 1/2" now and we are hoping to buy her about 4-5 inches to get her to 5’2 " or so. I also understand that sometimes they never do find a reason for a child having precocious puberty, but it is usually traced to some malfunction of a gland, either the adrenals or pituitaries. Just reassure your friend she is doing everything she can for her daughter and tell her she is in our prayers.
