Our 51/2 yr. old daughter was much like Cherry’s Grand Daughter, however the behavior was not just limited to her father & I.  She would throw massive fits at pre-school, where sometimes they would not be able to get her to calm down for an hour and I would need to come get her.  We went through 2 separate cycles of this, at different ages.  I talked to her Pediatrician, Endo & bought every book I could find.  Even though I really thought that part of the problem was from her medication, her Endo didn’t think so.  He is however a very good doctor and believes for the most part that parents know best so he had make some adjustments.  I don’t think I tried this long enough to truely get the effect because things started to calm down.  The second time we went through it I changed her dosing to 3 times per day based mainly on the posts and the results here.  I felt that  part of the problem was she need some behavior modification, however the other part was she would get so upset (stress) her body would actually need stress dosing to calm down.  And since we didn’t know when she would actually need the extra and I didn’t feel comfortable stress dosing everytime she would start a fit we decide to divide up her meds more so she would have more to work with.  Additionally it seem that this occurred more frequently when she was tired, common I know amoung many kids.

Sorry for the long winded reply.  With everything said our daughter is the most wonderful child who is extremly confident in herself and the most strong willed child you would ever meet.  I know these traits will serve her very well later in life, just alittle rough on the parents right now.  We have seen alot of changes since she started Kindergarten and she tells us that it is hard to get "time outs" there because she is too busy!

Just remember this to will pass...

Good luck and God Bless :).
