We just had the "experinence" of using steroids in addition to regular meds for our 6 month old SWCAH son who had crup.  Before we left our pediatrician’s office, we had all the information from our endocrinologist.  The pediatrican (it was a Saturday so it wasn’t our regular one) contacted our endo. while we waited in the office.  In my son’s case, I had just tripled his Cortef for his fever, right before we went to the doctor’s office.  Our endo put my son on pred. for 3 days & took him off the regular Cortef (he did some investigating in his medical books before making the decision).  All went well for us.  Unfotunatley my 2 1/2 yr old SWCAH still has a nasty cough (for 5 weeks), but seems to be getting better.  I hope your little one feels better soon!
