This might sound a bit harsh, but do you and your wife need to both work full-time.  I do not work as I feel that I need to be home looking after my children (they are not at school yet), but even when they start school soon I will consider doing work from home so that I will always be here if they are sick.   I can understand from an employer’s and a co-worker’s point of view that taking a lot of sick days puts pressure on the workplace and on the other workers.  For this reason, I do not want to place fellow employees in this position.   I don’t necessarily WANT to be at home all the time, and I would love to be out there working as well, but  I know that having a CAH child will mean that there may be more sick days than other children so I choose to make myself available to care for her at all times without any consequences to anyone else.
