I had a very good experience. No side effects, no extra weight gain, no high bp, etc., nothing!

I opted for the amnio and was very happy with it. I had a double amnio (being twins you get the prize of having it done twice). There was no pain at all (and trust me, my pain threshold is in the negative digits!) I received the FSH results within 48 hours and found out it was a boy and a girl. Because of my daughter, I then had to wait it out for the CAH results. I remainded on the Dex til we found out my daughter did not have CAH, but my son did. I started Dex at week 8 and I came off it about week 21/22.

My only advice is if you choose to have a CVS or amnio just make sure you have an OB who is very qualified, knowledgable and understanding. I was pretty nervous about the amnio. My OB had years and years of experience under her belt and was very comforting. She talked me and my husband through the entire amnio as we watched it on the u/s screen. That alone made me feel so much more relaxed and very happy with my decision.
