re: Lots of questions?

I have a soon to be four year old SWCAH son.  I remember those early days so well; they were so stressful.  Yes we had blood work done every week and then every two weeks then once a month and now we have it about every 4-6 monthes, so it does get better.  They never did heal sticks on my son because they said it was not accurate enough, and when he was an infant they could never find his veins. It was torture. We traveled around trying to fine someone who could stick him without having to try over and over, and his ped.  even did an artery stick a few times which I preferred because it was fast and one stick, but only a doc. is allowed to do those and they are dangerous, so we stopped doing that.  The only ones that  could get his blood were the lab. techs. at children’s in Dallas, so we started going there for blood work.  We would go just for blood work and it is a about a 4 hour drive, but it was worth it.  We just tried our local hospital for the first time in 3 years, and they did a good job only one stick, so we are going back to them this week becuase his levels were off and we had a med. change, so we have to have lab work again.  It still makes me sick to my stomach every time we have to do it.  He is old enough now that when we are anywhere near the doc. office he cries.  I hate it, but I have explained to him that it is something we have to do or he will get very sick.  Also, like you I use the suspension.  At one time they had some type of suspension that didnt work well.  I never used it, but as long as your pharmacist is compounding it should be fine.  We have never has problems with it.
