re: planned pregnancy after cah baby

Laura,

I have nothing to offer as far as knowing what it is like to have a girl with CAH, but I do have a 2 year old son with CAH and like everyone was suprised, shocked, etc. with the diagnosis.  My son has been nothing but a healthy CAH’er (knock on wood)  and my husband and I decided to go ahead with another planned pregnancy.  I chose to take the dex after a lot of research and for us it was the best decision.  I started at week 5 and ended at week 11 when I found out we were expecting another boy but this one only as a carrier.  We had a great CVS experience. I am 34 weeks pregnant and dumbfounded at the idea of having a child without CAH and not preemiee. (first born at 28 weeks).  Each family has their reasons for doing what they choose to do.  Don’t worry about others, but find peace in your decision.

Good Luck--J.A.
