No Crystal I think if you are on the right dose of any dose you should not put weight on. If the dose is too high it causes weight gain. If my son cuts down on his meds he loses weight dramatically and this obviously can be a dangerous thing. I am not sure I understand why some people can go without tablets completely. I think before puberty and during puberty fludro is very important and I do not condone my son stopping fludro. I would think to get your husbands fertility problems resolved they would have to give a reasonable dose of steroids.  Good luck - I do hope it all works out.
