SandraWelcome to the site. I too have been learning by reading posts but have not posted myself. I read your message and it is very similar to my situation so I thought I ought to respond.
I have 11 month old twins. Both are SWCAH. My son spit up after every meal - and a lot! It only subsided in the ninth month to our great relief. It was such a source of stress to wonder whether he was retaining his meds. We used to pop his cortef and florinf pills into a syringe, crush them with the plunger, draw up some water and allow it to dissolve. We tried to give it to him before he ate whenever possible. If it meant giving the meds a little early, we did that rather than risk him spitting them up after one of his meals. We used to put a bottle nipple (in the ring so it is sturdy) in his mouth. When he started to suck, we squirt the dissolved meds into the nipple and he sucked them up. We sat him up and tried to keep him still and upright for a bit. Sometimes he would eat after receiving his meds and, if he spit up,we figured (hoped) that the meds were still in- as in, first in, last out! His blood work was always good so we needn’t have worried as much as we did.
As for the salt. We tried salt solutions and giving a bit throughout the day but the best method for us was to give two salty bottles in a day. I nursed them but supplemented with the salty bottles. At first it was difficult because they ate so little at a time at first. Once they started to take at least 150ml (5 oz) in a feeding, we were able to add 0.5g of salt to that.
I hope you find something useful in all of that. Good luck!
