My husband is a carrier as am I.  When we tried to have children and couldn’t after a year, all the tests began.  The doctor focused on me first and put me through some very painful proceedures.  Finally, I said "don’t you think that you should check my husband’s sperm count?"  His count was so low that they told us the same thing as you - we probably couldn’t get pregnant on our without the assistance of IVF.  My huband went to his doctor and it was discovered that he had a vericocele.  That is a grouping of veins in the testicals that collectively put too much warmth in that area resulting in low sperm count.

He had surgery to repair it but we were so vested in the IVF program that we went ahead with it.  The doctor felt that even with the surgery we would need IVF.

I am happy to say that we were able to conceive on the first try and a little less than 9 months later we had a beautiful daughter named Rachael.

Without assistance we conceived on our own just a quick 5 months later.  Nine months after that we brought our son Ryan home.  He is the one with SWCAH.

BTW, their picture just happen to be at the top of the message board today!(;>)
