Please visit http://www.caresfoundation.org/ and click on CAH information.  This website and CARES is a very good source of information and can explain the necessity of the meds.  I have a 19 month old SWCAH daughter and she has come close to "adrenal crisis" TWICE and ended up in the hospital both times, once for a week, and this was in her first year of life, and that is WITH regular meds. 

Please know the meds are crucial....we never let her miss a dose and we "stress dose" as needed. She is on  cortef 3 times per day and florinef once per day. She has been taking pills since before she had teeth..
