Please go read this site and you’ll understand why it is important to take your medications. This young man was only 20 and stopped taking his medication regularly. He got sick and because he wasn’t taking his meds correctly, he subsequently died.

I think this, if anything, should help you understand the importance of staying on your medication. Speak with you physician about changing your dosage if you’re having many unpleasant side effects, but as a mother, I implore you not to just stop.

You probably understand about the loss of cortisol. Our bodies need it to deal with stress on our bodies and a CAH patient does not make it at all. It needs to be replaced to keep your back from getting out of whack (sorry for the layman’s terms) but it is going to send your body into shock if you don’t have it.
