Hi Lisa,

I really just first went to the school and asked them exactly how they handled things and then they gave me specific papers for the endo to fill out.  I  They were for permission to dispense the Cortef, Advil, pedialyte, gatorade and salty-snacks at school.   also asked her endo to type an emergency letter for her care that they keep on file at her school.  My daughter’s school was willing to learn how to give her the solu-cortef injection but since it would have been the school secretaries and not a school nurse I choose to contact our local paramedics to find out what they use on the ambulance and how to go about getting permission for them to use it on my daughter.  I myself also typed up a "how to" care for her sheet and I included every situation I could think of that could happen at school that they would need to give her medical care.  Like fever, vomiting, injury, over-heated etc.  I was very specific in everything and gave the school a step-by-step on what to do in every situation.  Like when to call me, when to give a double dose, when to give a triple dose, when to give her Advil, when to call the paramedics etc.  I hope this answers some of your questions.  Please feel free to e-mail me or post back on this site if you have any more questions.  I know how scary and overwhelming it can be to send them to school for the first time
