re: New thread on SSI

I hesitated before I even posted this message as I once posted on SSI and was attacked for considering my child "disabled". However, Carrie, I had to applaud your post. You seem to think just as I do in that I feel that I should stay home with my CAH girls as there is no one qualified in our area to watch them. Also, we live in a town of 6000 and are lucky that my husband has a good job, but the income isn’t great. The SSI money that we recieve for my girls helps supplement our income so that I can stay home and the girls can have the things they need.

Anyway, my daughters received SSI on the 1st try. They both have SWCAH and one is failure to thrive. The other has moderate developmental delays. If people need the assistance for whatever reason, they should apply. Also, I don’t feel like I should be criticized for "stealing government money". Until you walk in someone else’s shoes, you can’t judge.
