this topic is such a tricky one. from what i understand (and i am SURE someone will correct me if i am wrong !!) there are some cah children who qualify and some who don’t. just that fact seems very strange to me. i can only assume that is b/c of 1. some parents/grandparents fight harder to get it than others and 2. some children with cah  don’t do as well as others for varying reasons.  for my family, i can’t imagine putting my son on ssi b/c he is doing pretty well, my husband and i are young, and we have private insurance. am i lucky and blessed and thankful??? yes , i am!!!!

however, i don’t understand why people are judging those who do put their children on ssi. that is their choice and the way i see it, if my family’s situation were different, i would probably try too!  also, we never know what life has in store for us. my life situation could be totally different tomorrow. for right now, we are managing ok without ssi, but if we were to need it in the future, i am certainly glad it is an option. i don’t get what the big deal is. different strokes for different folks. just my 2 cents....
