My husband recieved SSI from the time he was 12 to about 19, just a couple years before we got married. (He had a rare kidney disease) We have never had any problems with him having been on SSI and basically that was the only way his family would have been able to live because they were so low income (he was raised by a single mom) His worker actually told us in the future if his kidney disease comes out of remission then it will be easier for him to get on SSI because he was already on it. Because there is proof of an on going problem. So if he is ever out of work (because of his condition) I am thankful we would have the help we needed. Amy
