I am in the process of applying for SSI for my son that has SWCAH. I have applied four times and was denied on all of them. I have now called for a hearing and have an attourney. Thank you everyone for your post, it gives me hope. I am a single Mother of three and go to school full time. I don’t really have anyone to care for Michael when he is sick except myself. While I am in school that is okay, I can miss a class if I have too, but I am worried about the problems I will have when I go to work this summer as I have read the post where others have had problems with their employers. I don’t believe a mother wanting to be able to care for her child the best way possible could be taking advantage of any source. We all have different lives and circumstances. Michael is disabled. He had to miss school and other functions because of his disorder. He will always have on-going medical expenses. He is my son and I will fight for him as long as I am alive. Thanks to all of you who have given me hope to keep up the fight.
