louisehi margaret! my 1 year old son has swcah too! congrats on your little one!! i am sure it seems quite overwhelming right now. i remember that well. as everyone will tell you, it does get easier.
concerning the vaccines, no-there is no problem with cah children getting the vaccines. my son is up to date and did receive the flu vaccine this fall as well. in fact, our endo and pediatrician really recommend cah kids getting the flu vaccine when they are at an appropriate age. my son did run a fever after some of them for about 24 hours. it ran as high as 102. i gave him tylenol when that happened and tripled his cortef dose for 24 hours. the fever was gone by that point. however, after one set of shots he did not get a fever, so i did not medicate him any differently. he never acted ill and it was not a big deal. i have never heard of cah kids not getting live vaccines. the MMR is a live vaccine as is the chicken pox. i certainly intend on my son having these when he is 15 months, but i will ask about that! congrats again and welcome!
