I think everyone has valid points here. Too many children I feel are too quickly diagnosed with ADHD too. BUT remember also like Valerie said, it is a real disorder. I have a cousin that was always hyper through the 1960’s and 70’s. He is in his 40’s now and FINALLY was diagnosed ADHD. He is on medication and said how blown away he is by the "clearness" he is experiencing. He said he always felt as if he heard a million different sounds at once. He couldn’t concentrate at all. It made him crazy. He never could hold down a job, and his life has been a mess until now. He turned to getting high to feel that calmness as he went through the years. Today he wishes they had this medication for him when he was young. But I don’t want every mother freaking out by thinking their child will become some drug addict if they are NOT treated for ADHD.  You sound like you are pretty in tune with your child. Trust your mother’s instinct like I think you are.  Good luck.
