Glucose testing during an illness?

I know there is a fine line between being attentive to your child’s needs and health and going overboard.   I have a question if anyone would help me think it through.  I of course worry more than usual when my SWCAH daughter is ill.  There have been a couple of times I was torn between stress dosing and the solucortef injection.  I know it is probably better if you could get them through the illness with stress dosing vs. the injection.  I was thinking about something when there is an illness the glucose level should go down.  My question is I wonder if it would be beneficial or help give a parent a baseline if they could be checked like a diabetic during an illness with a glucose meter for their glucose level?

I know that is another thing to worry about and another little poke a child would get but I am really curious about this.  I wonder if there would be a level the glucose level would drop which could indicate an injection is probably in order.  If anyone has any ideas or thoughts please feel free to reply.  Again I do want to be cautious and care for her but not go overboard.  I spoke to my sister about this which has been a charge nurse for about 15 years now.  My sister’s eyes got kind of big when I mentioned it to her like a light bulb went off in her head.  She said she thinks it would be worth mentioning to my endo.  My sister is very familiar with glucose levels and testing because she is a diabetic also.  I look forward to comments or thoughts anyone might have!
