CAUTION about EMT’s and Bracelets!!
Feb. 17th, 2005   3:44pm

First of all I bought a medical ID for my daughter who is now 8 months old and I keep it on her car seat. I agree that if my husband or I are ever in an accident and we’re unable to respond, the medics will hopefully know what to do..

which brings me to my next point...

My husbands best friend is a certified EMT and works for a major hospital in the cleveland area. He finished school not too long ago and when he visited one time I was getting ready to order and couldn’t decide what info I wanted on the ID. I asked him when he would do if he picked up a child or baby with "Adrenal Insufficiency" on a medical ID and he to my surprise, DIDN’T KNOW WHAT IT MENT!!! He had never even heard of CAH and that of course made me very upset that their obviously not teaching the EMT’s about things like this.

I’m not trying to scare anyone because I’m sure if your child needs the ambulance the EMT’s will find out what adrenal insufficiency is quick but I did want to bring it to everyones attention that I don’t think their informed in school about what that condition is. They had to of learned about the adrenal glads???!!!
