re: salt and food

Like others I introduced water in a sippy cup by 9 or 10 months. I always had a cup handy around the house and my son (CAH SW) would just crawl, then later walk up and drink some. He drank quite a bit of water until he was about two. I just assumed all babies drank a fair amount of water until I had my second son (no CAH). He never drinks water. I always offer it but he has no interest.

Although we never added salt to his diet, I do remember my son loving food that had a higher salt content. I tried to make things like tomato soup and cottage cheese available to him so if he was having a salt craving he could get his fill. When he was first starting finger food he just loved eating cottage cheese mixed with peas -with his hands - big yuk to me, but it made him deliriously happy.
