MARYSorry to hear of your sons problem. I experience something similar with my SWCAH daughter. She was hopitalized twice in December staying three days each time. She was vomiting and had diarrhea and a fever and then she had a seizure. She was rushed to the ER. The doctors gave her iv fluids, said her blood sugar was low and called it a case of gastroenteritis. The seizure happening because of the fever and low blood sugar. She stayed three days, requiring iv fluids and triple doses. She was released and one week later was admitted again for vomitting and diarrhea but no fever. Her pottasium was low and she was dehydrated. You couldn’t tell she was sick as she was still playing and running around and singing. She stayed another three days and on the last day the doctors finally took a stool sample and found out she had Giardia. It is a parisite infection and is caused from drinking contaminated water. We think she got it from playing in a fountain at a church wedding. Who knows??? Anyways, after taking some antibiotics three times a day for a week, all the symptoms went away. You might want to ask your pediatrician about this. I hope your son gets well soon.
