Dana To: MRMR my daughter had such a very bad problem with acne while we were on prednisone. It was getting to the point that adults were asking me what was going on with her face. I asked her endo several times and they were at a loss. The thing is my daughter was oversuppressed. When my daughter was switched to Hydrocortisone her acne went away within a week and 1/2 it was amazing. I wonder if it would something to think about to decrease it? I know you said they increased it because her Androstendione was high but maybe it was increased a little too much. I am at all saying I know what the problem is but I understand the frustration of having a child with acne and no amount of products would work. I was told to consult a dermatologist but her acne ended up getting better. I would say maybe they could help you research a solution because alot of what they deal with also is hormonal issues. I had severe acne as a teenager so I can relate about the acne. I lucked out and had a good dermatologist that put me on a medicine that changed my life basically. I was actually getting to the point where I didn’t want to go to school as I got older for fear of being teased! Luckily I was also given a product from the dermatologist that helped smooth my skin out that there wasn’t any evidence of severe acne. I am a carrier as far as I know but I have often wondered if there were any other parents of CAH children that have ever battled acne or oily skin and hair. I need to get genetic testing done sometimes I doubt I am just a carrier. I have been so busy figuring everything out I can to help my daughter I haven’t even thought about genetic testing yet! Good luck MR if you find anything out let us know.
