 Catherine,

Congratulations on your new baby boy! As we have all posted it IS VERY SCARY when you learn of a disorder your child has. If it were not for this board I think half of us would be out of our wits!  I am raising my Granddaughter after her Mother passed away with cancer and I must say I was scared raising a second family at 50.... then to find out she was CAH ! WOW! I just knew I had my hands full. It did get easier and you DO accept the fact they are just normal kids that need a little medicine and a LOT of TLC! My husband and I went to visit some first time grandparents and held there new Granddaughter and we both had the same wave of guilt as we looked at each other with tears in our eyes. We did not remember much about our Mitz’s first year as we were so distraught with the loss of her Mother and the overwhelmong fear of what to do. When she was diagnosed at 13 months and was intensive care from adrenal crisis ( not to scare you ) WE went to the chapel to pray and asked God to spare her little life as we KNEW she was given to us for a reason. You never know how strong you are or how strong you can be until you are tested. God saved our baby and she is our 4 year old Princess . We learn from her everyday and when she goes to the Dr. her strength is so strong ...... she sits like a little lady and has blood draws and waits on her sticker. She looked at me this time and said See....Grandma that wasn’t too bad. Everytime we put her to bed we praise God that he sent us this special angel to show us that FAITH, and HOPE and PRAYER can work wonders.  The art of Parenting can be difficult ..to say the least! But the art of Parenting with CAH and Faith is the true art of parenting with LOVE. You will be a wonderful Mother to your Son and you will learn from him everyday of his life . Enjoy him..... Thank God for him..... Have FAITH in GOD and FAITH in yourself. God would not have given him to you if he did not KNOW you could take care of his needs. Be strong and if you need support........ this is the place. Some of the info is good and some is scary. Read and filter what you need from it. Remember it is the INTERNET! But on this board you fill find friends, Mothers, Fathers, Families and young and old that have CAH in there life. We live it everyday and help each other through the tough times and laugh through the good.  May yours all be good !
Sincerely,
Cherry Lane
