My youngest with SW CAH had his adnoids and tonsils out 3 years ago,  he is now 6.  He was always sick with a runny nose and ear infections,  constant throughout the winter.  He is much better now,   I would say one cold/w/ ear infection a year now....It is my understanding that taking out the adnoids is no big deal for recovery,  the tonsils take about two weeks.
