I have two SW CAH boys 6 and 8 years old and they are great.  You just would never know there was a thing wrong with them.  They are crazy normal kids!  I have to say my mother always cooked food for me when my oldest was born,  she brought pot roast to the hospital once.  So nice!  That was a long time ago,  we have not been to the hospital in years,  except for a couple of stitches. 

I do have to say my in-laws were not as excited about having two grandchildren that were not so perfect but I think they are used to it now and I always made them watch the kids weather they wanted to or not,  I would not keep my kids away from any grandparnet just because they were not that into the CAH thing,  you are always just a phone call away.

It is scary in the beginning but things get much easier as the kids get older.
