re: CAH....Hashimotto’s disease
Mar. 7th, 2005   1:01am

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease three years ago.  It had gone on for so long before diagnosis that I could barely even get out of bed.  I also have small masses in my thyroid which they determined to have a 90% chance of being cancerous.  They are watching them very carefully and they haven’t grown so far.  I have a doctor’s appt. tomorrow with a much more experienced doctor and she will do all the scans necessary.  Right now, due to an incredible amount of stress over the last 3 months, my thyroid is very swollen and very painful.

Although I am a carrier of CAH, I have developed symptoms as of late especially when under stress.

I also am anemic and have malabsorption problems.  What happens at first with malabsorption is the weight loss.  After long bouts of that the body starts to pack on weight in an effort to keep your body from starving to death.

My teeth have taken a big hit as well and my night vision and reading abilities are not doing to well.

I had an endoscopy which showed some wearing away, or "agitation" and they did a biopsy which came back negative.  They gave me some antacid meds and it does seem to help somewhat.  I haven’t been able to drink milk or eat full fat ice cream or the likes for years.

I will let you know what this new doc thinks about the whole thing after all my tests come back.

I will say a prayer for you Aimee.

P.S.  I recently was diagnosed with a mild form of cancer and am being treated for that.  Let me know how you do.
