Isaac-  Welcome and Congrats on your baby girl.  My daughter is 13 mo. now and was on Orapred which is prednisone also.  My daughter had some growth issues while she was on prednisone.  I have heard of children doing fine on prednisone but her growth issues were to the point where she had fallen off the growth chart for height and weight!  I ask my endo to put my daughter on Hydrocortisone which is the same as Cortef 3 x day.  So far my daughter is showing improvement on her height and weight gain.  If you would like to reference some material to show your endo about your concerns you can find the 2002 consensus statement for CAH if you go to www.caresfoundation.org there is a link to take you there.  From what I read Prednisone is recommended when a patient has reached linear growth which is the same as adult height.  Don’t quote me but when prednisone is given it should only be 1/5 the dose of hydrocortisone.  My daughter also takes Fludrocortisone 1 tablet in the am and 1/2 tablet at night.  They had suggested lowering my daughters prednisone but we were only on .1 1/2 so I couldn’t see where we could go much lower.  I can tell you that I would keep a close eye on how she is on the growth chart.  My pediatrician would not have been as concerned if he had seen my daughter stay at 5% or 10% for a period of time.  My pediatrician got worried when he saw her falling off the chart!  Good luck Isaac and welcome to the board!
