My son is 11 days old and has had problems with low blood sugar and has been in the NICU since he was born. His neonatologist just told us tonight that they are thinking that he might have CAH. They thought his problem was high insulin, but his insulin blood work came back normal. The only symptom he has of CAH is his cortisol test came back low for his growth hormone level. They took him off the meds to lower his insulin, since that wasn’t his problem, and his glucose hasn’t dropped. Has anyone ever had an infant that had no symptoms? He is gaining weight (he was born 2 weeks early at 5 lbs. 2.3 oz), taking formula well, sleeping well, etc. We are very confused and are losing patience with this whole process.
