re: Found out today that my child DOES NOT have CAH

I’m glad for you that your daughter doesn’t have CAH.  What does she have? I would be concerned if my 9 yr old was getting pubic and facial hairs too. Please don’t feel sorry for the kids that do have CAH. I have 4 boys and my youngest two have CAH.  They are just kids that have, in comparison to what’s out there, a very treatable condition.  In my opinion, kids that have Asthma are worse off than my kids.  The problem is that CAH is not well known.  So along with the rarity and some of the problems that girls with CAH have...it becomes a big "OH....NO".   In a nutshell, our kids don’t make enough cortisone.  They take a pill supplement and get monitored every few months to make sure they are on the right dose.  There can be problems but it’s just like everything else...some have it easier that others.

These kids, like my two boys, will be able to do anything any other kids can do.  They will be able to grow up and be just like everyone else.  I know you probably didn’t mean anything mean when you said, "Poor Kids".   Just wanted to let you know that CAH isn’t the worst thing that could have happened to your daughter.

Best of Luck,

Sandra
