I had a vaginal CVS at 10 weeks. Found out in 2 days that it was a girl so stayed on Dex while they ran the genetic tests. It took 8 weeks to get the results back (no CAH) so I weaned off the Dex. In all I was on Dex from 7 weeks pregnancy to 19 weeks.

Had I done amnio, it would have been done around 17 weeks. If the tests results took as long I would have been on the dex until 26 weeks. I choose CVS because I wanted off the dex as soon as possible if it was not needed. The risk of miscarriage with CVS vs Amnio  increases very slightly. But it is very important to go to someone who does many many many of these procedures.
