If you will be close to the daycare center that is best because then if there is s a problem you can get there quickly to give extra meds or the shot. It is such a touchy feeling thing--to know when/if to give the shot or just oral meds etc. I feel like it is a guessing game and I want to be the one doing the guessing. My daughter is in preschool across the street from my work. We started this year as we were fortunate enough to have my husband stay home with her until then but she is almost 5 and next year will be going to kindergarten. Anyway, after having 4 years to adjust to CAH and caregivers we decided to tell the school what symptoms to be aware of and what illness are of concern and to call me immediately if these happen. They do not give her meds at all and have none on hand. We did not even go into how to give the shot as either my husband or I could get there before emergency personnel.Julia S
This is a State run preschool (the only one within a 1/2 hour) so I did not want to give them any reason to deny her from going. I know that if I had HAD to leave her at age 2 I would not have been so comfortable not spelling EVERYTHING out including having them practice giving the shot on an orange. (I still am this vigilant if I am not going to be in the area and therefore unavailable.) Sorry for the ramble. Good luck! Julia
