My 17 month old had several bouts of thrush between 10-14 months of age.  It seemed it usually happened after he was ill and had to be stress dosed for a period.  He has not had it again in the last 3 months.  I, too think it has to do with the steroids and a compromised immune system during times of other illness or virus.
