I don’t know Jennifer so I can’t make any assumptions about her.  From the sounds of it, neither to most of the other posters.  I’m sure Jennifer had her reasons for doing it and I suppose if she desires to share them with a group of people who have passed judgement on her here, she will.  If she is unhappy with the story (and I don’t believe any of know the answer to that), that’s something she will need to deal with; if the story stated things she didn’t say, she may have the right to legal recourse but again, that’s between her and the publisher--not between her and you.

However, I do know that no one should ever have to buy into any other persons shame and secrecy by not sharing his or her personal story.  Asking someone to not share their history and feelings because it might cause problems for people she doesn’t even know is not right.  I do a fair amount of media and if my story embarrassed people I don’t know, it’s their problem and not mine because my shame and secrecy is in my past.
