Testing by 24 hour urine collection
Apr. 7th, 2005   2:06pm

We had to take our 23-month-old in for bloodwork yesterday, which started me thinking...

I’ve heard mention that some of you do labs by way of 24-hour urine collection instead of blood draws.  Does this method accomodate the 3 ’usual’ tests: 17OHP, Androstendione, & Plasma Renin Activity, or do you still have to draw blood for any of these?

Also, I can’t recally anyone in the United States testing this way - do any of our US families use this method?

Obviously, my little one is still in diapers which would make this difficult, but I’d like to know more about it for when he’s a little older.

Thanks to anyone who can offer some insight!

Blessings,
