Hi Sherry,

Where do you live in Canada? We’ve lived in, and seen different endos in, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Vancouver .... NEVER has any of them suggested that we don’t need the solu-cortef shot for crisis!!! On the contrary, we were given it AT THE HOSPITAL when my SW daughter was born, and they wouldn’t let us go home until we were instructed on when and how to give it!! This is alarming to me, especially since I lost a son to adrenal crisis. I would definately demand that you have it on hand ... I feel so strongly about this, that I would switch endos if mine would not comply.

As far as the 10mg tablets are concerned, you’re right: we have been halving and quartering our daughter’s meds since day 1, with no problems whatsoever (she’s 7 now). We were told that the overall, 24 hr dose, was more important to consider that each individual dose - so if our daughter took 1/4 tablet, 1/4 tablet and 1/2 tablet daily, it was important that she received that whole tablet in one 24 hour period, but we weren’t to worry about getting the splits exact (you try your best though, of course!)

The meningitis vaccine was not part of the normal vaccination program when our daughter was born, so she never has had it .... it’s available now for her (or anyone), but I’m not sure how I feel about it either! Theoretically, our CAH kids’ immune systems should not be compromised because they’re supposedly only getting "replacement therapy" ... but who knows, right?! I’m interested to see others’ experiences with this too ...

God bless, (and welcome to Canada!!)

Wendy-Lee
