Thanks for the responses! One of my main concerns with the dex is what it would do to my blood sugars. Goodness knows, it was hard enough to keep them under control with a ’normal’ pregnacy, but with steriods causing insulin resistance I can’t even imagine how hard it would be! When it comes down to it, I think I’d risk having another girl with virilization than having a child with complications because of uncontrolled diabetes. Bah- the crappy choices we have to make sometimes!MarthaF
I’m also suprised at how many kids the newborn screens have missed. I remember when my daughter was born, it took only a couple of days for the 17-ohp’s to come back when we were in the hospital- rush test perhaps? I know they rushed the karotyping since we didn’t know if we had a girl or a boy! But you think that they could do that for any child who had a chance of having CAH. Heck- I would do the test in my own lab if it was gonna take 2 weeks for results to come back!
Once again, the thanks for the insite- it’s much appreciated--
Martha
