It’s hard to believe that you really thought Angel was asking for opinions about her writing style, or what other entries she might make in her diary that she hasn’t made already, rather than asking for opinions about surgery.  I am sure there are many more pressing issues on her mind.  Yes, among them the fact that her child has a potentially life-threatening condition.

At the same time, if you are hearing the same comment from several people about sounding insensitive or harsh, perhaps it’s time to consider whether you might not be coming across as such, whether it’s intentional or not.   I also thought your comments to Angel were completely out of line and uncalled for.
