And as for Betsy’s comments, I agree with Sam that they were out of line.  Not because of her stance on surgery which I have no problem with.  But because she seems to answer every question with exactly the same answer, no matter what the question is.  What exactly does "perpetuating shame and secrecy" have to do with objecting that a newcomer be addressed politely and seriously, instead of as "Hon?"  Or thinking that she didn’t need to be criticized for bringing up that her child could die??  

 

Betsy, you criticized parents for sounding like children lining up for cake and ice cream.  What do you think, "Aimee, post away girl---you’ll get used to the venom after a while" sounds like?  To me, it sounds like you want some cake and ice cream too.
